You Call That A Solution?

The immigration bill was defeated, but, I'm still trying to wrap my mind around how giving illegal immigrants "A path to citizenshitp" aka, amnesty, and reducing illegal immigration a whopping 13% is a "solution" to the problem.

Let me see how much sarcasm I can put into this next statement...

13%? 13% WOW! That's a reduction of 1.5 million illegal immigrants in the next 10-15 years.

And now the exit question for the legislators who voted for the amnesty bill,

OK, after this bill is passed, what are you going to do with the NEXT 10.5 million illegal immigrants in 10 or 15 years from now? Are you going to let them just avoid the ICE for the next decade until you do this again?

Many of my readers know I follow Dave Ramsey's financial advice like he's Moses leading me to the promised land (Which in a way if you follow his advice you will. It's called becoming RICH!) And he HATES companies like Ditech who give "Debt Consolodation Loans" In a way, this bill follows that line of thought. The immigration bill is the loan, and the immigrants are the credit card debt. A consolidation doesn't fix the problem, it's more like cough medicine. It only treats the symptoms, but won't cure the disease.

This isn't a solution you can just throw money at, and expect it to go away. You have to get rid of the incentive to immigrate illegally, by severely punishing companies who knowingly hire illegal immigrants.

Employers, check the Social security numbers of the people who are hired to see if they are legit. If the Social doesn't fit, then they have to quit.

The Large Holes In SiCKO

Michelle blasts holes in SiCKO's logic with about a 8 Inch deck gun in her latest Vent.

Michael Moore believes that drug companies should be regulates so they reduce their profits, and followed one Insurance company that he claimed allowed a little girl to die after not being admitted into a hospital for a fever. The first point Michelle makes is that the Insurance company, Kaiser Permanente is a private health insurance company, but it's a NON-PROFIT HMO. On top of that Michelle asks a very important question that applies not only to insurance, but to socialism, government entitlements and other hand outs.

"If there's nothing for you to gain (profits in the case of insurers), then what are your incentives?"

Drug companies make a profit so they have a reason to create new drugs. If you're not going to benefit from research, then why bother?

That is the fundamental flaw in liberal ideology. Although the idea of helping the not as fortunate seems like a noble plan (The very unfortunate are exempt from this thought. I'm not a totally sadistic bastard), it very often backfires, and creates a giant mess.

  • If you have a socialist/communist society where everyone makes the same amount of money, then why strive to do more?
  • Why should I get a higher paying job if I'm only going to have to pay more taxes?
  • If the government will give you a free check for not working, then why go out and work?
  • If I won't make money for my invention then why invent it in the first place?
  • If I'm not going to make money for taking care of patients, then why should I try harder to care for them?

Case in point: Profits drive excellence. The better you do, the more you are rewarded.

One Last Post For The Day

I've been on a posting frenzy today! I've got one last opine to spew before getting off my soap box for the day.

I'm sick of people comparing apples to orangutans with the Paris Hilton/Michelle Delgadillo issue. Their case is "Paris Hilton isn't in jail for DUI. Paris Hilton was put in jail for 45 days for driving with a suspended license when the D.A.'s wife was caught driving with a suspended license she was only fined $186. That's not fair!"

First off, Paris Hilton isn't in jail for driving with a suspended license. Paris Hilton is in jail for violating her probation which stemmed from a DUI that she got a break from. Instead of getting a DUI and having to serve 48 hours in jail, she got off with Alcohol Related Reckless Driving. She was fined $1,500, had to attend alcohol education classes, plus the suspended license. On top of that she's in jail for is not attending the alcohol class she was assigned to.

Apples - D.A.'s wife getting a fine for driving with a suspended license
Orangutans - Paris Hilton is in jail for 1) Violating probation and 2) Not attending her mandatory alcohol education class.

THERE IS NO COMPARISON!

MSNBC Confesses, "Maybe The Media Is Bias..."

About time.

"But with polls showing the public losing faith in the ability of journalists to give the news straight up, some major newspapers and TV networks are clamping down. They now prohibit all political activity — aside from voting — no matter whether the journalist covers baseball or proofreads the obituaries. The Times in 2003 banned all donations, with editors scouring the FEC records regularly to watch for in-house donors. In 2005, The Chicago Tribune made its policy absolute. CBS did the same last fall. And The Atlantic Monthly, where a senior editor gave $500 to the Democratic Party in 2004, says it is considering banning all donations. After MSNBC.com contacted Salon.com about donations by a reporter and a former executive editor, this week Salon banned donations for all its staff.
What changed? First came the conservative outcry labeling the mainstream media as carrying a liberal bias. The growth of talk radio and cable slugfests gave voice to that claim. The Iraq war fueled distrust of the press from both sides. Finally, it became easier for the blogging public to look up the donors.
...The pattern of donations, with nearly nine out of 10 giving to Democratic candidates and causes, appears to confirm a leftward tilt in newsrooms — at least among the donors, who are a tiny fraction of the roughly 100,000 staffers in newsrooms across the nation."

But of course, we already knew that, as well as the people at UCLA.

"Our results show a strong liberal bias. All of the news outlets except Fox News’ Special Report and the Washington Times received a score to the left of the average member of Congress. And a few outlets, including the New York Times and CBS Evening News, were closer to the average Democrat in Congress than the center. These findings refer strictly to the news stories of the outlets. That is, we omitted editorials, book reviews, and letters to the editor from our sample." - A Measure of Media Bias, UCLA, 2004

TP Demands Radio Equality

Think Progress is whining about the fact that over 90% of talk radio is conservative. They don't believe that it was so much the repeal of an unconstitutional Fairness Doctrine, but more that the owners are conservative, therefore, they don't want to hire progressive radio hosts.

That may be true, but how about this suggestion; Maybe the advertisers who keep the radio station operating don't want to be associated with a liberal radio station who portrays big businesses as evil scum that has more money they should, and needs to pay it to the poor.

A perfect example of this...the progressive monster, Air America. A recent internal memo listed many companies who had been blacklisted because they specifically demanded not to have advertisements run on Air America. Some of the companies are Hewitt Packard, Home Depot, Proctor & Gamble, Pepsi, Coca-Cola, JC Penny, Kohl's, and many more. In all there are 90 of the largest companies demanding not to be aired on Air America. This has created between a 5 and 8 Million dollar shortfall in their budget. Oh, and I forgot to mention that almost ALL of Air America's Affiliates are losing listeners.

Radio Equalizer and Political Calculations have more on the downfall of AA from last year. Air America's head station, WLIB is ranked 27th in NYC (7th among AM stations) with only an estimated 130,000 listeners out of the 15 MILLION people over the age of 12 who live in New York City. That's a rating of about 0.9. The leading AM radio station is WABC, a CONSERVATIVE Talk radio station (Home of Sean Hannity) and has a rating of 3.7. Also, in 2006, the average Air America rating was about a 0.9. An estimated 1 million listeners out of almost 100 Million people over the age of 12.

Nobody is listening to you, so nobody wants to pay you to keep you on the air. That's why conservative radio is flourishing, and progressives are sinking fast.

People Plays A Violin For Paris

"What's annoying is all these people are going on television saying that she was drinking and driving. She's not in jail for DUI. That's a big misconception. She's in jail for driving on a suspended license, just like the D.A.'s wife was. ... She got a $186 fine." - Nicky Hilton via People Magazine

No Nicky, your sister isn't in jail for DUI. In fact, she got off easy in her DUI case, only being charged with alcohol related reckless driving. She is in jail for violating her probation that was given because of the reckless driving charge. That's a very serious offense.

Flag Day

June 14th is Flag Day here in the United States to comemorate the Stars and Stripes.

Flag Day began back in 1885 when a school teacher in Wisconsin asked his students to celebrate our flag's birthday that June 14th. Newspapers picked up the story and the day began to gain more followers.

Malkin has some great Stars and Stripes Pictures, but I like to show my favorite one that I took last summer when I visited Ground Zero for the second time.

On the sign are names of some of the people who died on 9/11.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Dale Jr, has possibly just destroyed his gigantic fan base by joining Hendrick Motorsports starting in 2008. Junior is now team mates with the man that most #8 fans (including myself) despise. Jeff Gordon. Time will tell what the consequences of this move are. I'm wondering who will be the one to have beer cans thrown at them at Talladega.

Wyatt will be thrilled.

A good quote from one reporter at the press conference:
"This move to many fans is like Bear Bryant's son announcing he's going to play football for Auburn."

Git Yo 'A$$ Back In There!

Paris is going back to court to see if she will actually finish her sentence back in prison. On top of that, Sheriff Lee Baca, the man who decided to release her will be, may possibly be held in contempt of the court for violating Judge Michael Sauer's sentence.

"Sauer himself had expressed his unhappiness with Hilton's release before Delgadillo asked him to return her to court. When he sentenced Hilton to jail last month, he ruled specifically that she could not serve her sentence at home under electronic monitoring."

Paris Hilton, Free After Less Than One Week

So here's the time line of Paris Hilton's arrests.

September 7, 2006 - Paris arrested for DUI.

January 15, 2007 - Paris is pulled over and signs a document stating that she has a suspended license. She then placed the document in her glove box.

January 22, 2007 - Paris gets break #1, on account of only getting charged with alcohol related reckless driving, instead of DUI. She gets 36 months probation, her license was suspended further, had to go to alcohol education classes by Feb 12th, and pay a fine of $1,500. No jail time, and she didn't even appear in court.

February 27, 2007 - Paris Hilton is pulled over for speeding AND driving without her headlights on at 11 PM, a mere month after the sentencing. Police soon realize she has violated her DUI probation.

May 4, 2007 - After arriving 10 minutes AFTER her court time, 2 traffic stops since the September 7th arrest, and not going to the educational classes, Paris is handed a sentence of 45 days in jail. Break #2 - The sentence is later reduced to 23 days.

June 2, 2007 - At 11:30 PM Paris arrives at jail to serve her 23 day sentence.

June 7, 2007 - Break #3 - Paris is released at 2 AM after serving only 3 full days, due to "medical reasons" that the state conveniently cannot discuss. Paris' new sentence is 40 day house arrest. Reporters ask spokesman Steve Whitmore, "What’s your comment to people who say she played you like a puppet on a string — she came in here, didn’t like it, it was hard and she got out?" Whitmore neither confirmed nor denied the accusation.

So that's it, she's now free, and probably got exactly what she wanted. I had thought that this ordeal would do one of two things to Paris, depending on how it all played out.
1) She would serve the whole time, and come out a changed person who never wanted to go to jail again.
2) She would be let off easy and not be held accountable for her actions, just like in everything else she does.

It looks like throughout the past 8 months, Paris has had no interest in the consequences of her actions, nor has she taken them seriously (thus the 10 minutes late to court). I think that she is going to come out of this the same Paris Hilton that was arrested for DUI back in September.

My friend Fez gave me this line when we were discussing the issue, and how she was released for "medical reasons".
"[It] sounds like an excuse people use to get out of the dorms.. not jail."

Global Warming Alarmists Stifle The Opposition

“I have no doubt that global — that a trend of global warming exists. I am not sure that it is fair to say that is a problem we must wrestle with." - Michael Griffin

Now, because he has "angered" the Global Warming community, who have called him ignorant, he was forced to apologize for giving his opinion. Not only that, but look at this.

"...Unfortunately, this is an issue which has become far more political than technical, and it would have been well for me to have stayed out of it. All I can really do is apologize to all you guys.... I feel badly that I caused this amount of controversy over something like this." - June 4, 2007

That explains the reason why scientists who oppose the notion haven't come out to say so. If they dare have the nerve to contradict Global Warming, you're outcast as an ignorant fool who doesn't know what he/she is talking about. But the fact of the matter, at this point, Global Warming IS still just an opinion. There is almost as much evidence against man-made global warming as there is for it being man made. This is simply a public showing of how liberal ideology is being forced down our throats, and a willing silencing of any opposing views.

HAHAHAHA!

Sarah Silverman gets huge applause/laughs at Paris Hilton's expense. Here's the transcript:

In a couple of days, Paris Hilton is going to jail.
*12 second applause*
Wow. Wow. Thank you. Heh.
The judge says that it's gonig to be a no frills thing and that is ridiculous. She is totally going to get special treatment. As a matter of fact I heard that in order to maker her feel like more comfortable in prison, the guards are going to paint the bars like penises.
*Applause*
Is that- I think it's wrong too. I just worry that she's going to break her teeth on those things. Anyway...
*Loud applause*
Oh sweetie...
*Applause continues*
Aww...
*More Applause*
Wow, why do I feel dirty?

Watch it here.

The look on Paris' face is PRICELESS!!!

Nancy Pelosi Spin's Michael Griffin's Words

Nancy Pelosi does an amazing job of selective quoting during a press conference on Capitol Hill recently. Here's what she said:
Just listen to the president's own NASA administrator, Dr. Michael Griffin, what he said yesterday, "I have no doubt that a trend of global warming exists. I'm not sure that it's fair to say that it is a problem we must wrestle with." This is a very well educated scientist. Why would he say such a thing?

Now let's read what the REAL quote was.

"I have no doubt that a trend of global warming exists. I am not sure that it is fair to say that it is a problem we must wrestle with. To assume that it is a problem is to assume that the state of Earth's climate today is the optimal climate, the best climate that we could have or ever have had and that we need to take steps to make sure that it doesn't change. I guess I would ask which human beings — where and when — are to be accorded the privilege of deciding that this particular climate that we have right here today, right now is the best climate for all other human beings. I think that's a rather arrogant position for people to take."

*Sniff sniff sniff* Do I smell bulls#$% coming from the Speaker's office?

Also, Rich Karlgaard sniffs out Global warming bias/snobbery in the AP/New York Times
