I can't help but see this as a huge waste of raw materials.
I just can't imagine how much money the scrap metal from the 888 foot long carrier could produce. The ship weighed over 60,000,000 lbs (full weight was 32,000 tons before gutting) I'm sure it would be a lot better than the $20 Million it cost to sink the ship in the first place.
Granted Florida State University estimates suggest it could create $92 Million in annual revenue for the artificial reef, but I really don't see it being that big of a cash cow.
