Number one, again

The St. Louis Cardinals, along with being the best team in baseball, are the first to clench a division title for the second season in a row. With a full 4.5 game lead over the 2nd best team the Chicago White Sox, the Red Birds look to be the team to beat going into the October playoffs. The Cardinals are also only 6 wins away from the coveted 100 win mark. This season is especially sentimental since it is the last season at the old Busch Stadium, before it is torn down, and the new Busch Stadium is completed. The cardinals have been playing there for 39 years, but it is now time to move on.

With Chris Carpenter on the mound the Cardinals look to have a guaranteed win on their hands. With 21 wins, 7 complete games, 4 shut outs, an opponent's batting average of only .219, and a WHIP (Walks/Hit's pre Inning Pitched) of 0.99, he was worth the wait after surgery.

You'd better believe that I'm going to be watching this year's playoffs with the same amount of attention as last year's.
