It's Political Season

Yup, it's one of THOSE years. A year when we vote for congress and the senate, but not for a new President. Even though it's only January, that doesn't keep the smear from starting. Steve Gill reported today via Powerline that Coleen Rowly has decided to use the tired "Republica-Nazi" routine and put her opponent (and current incumbent) John Kline in a Nazi uniform on her personal political webpage. I can see it already that the image will not be her fault and that some scape-goat will get the blame for being over zealous. John Kline is a 25 Year Marine Vet. Here is a portion of his response letter he sent to Coleen.

"I demand a personal apology from you, as well as an apology to every veteran.
Your attempts to smear my good name and 25 years of honorable service in the United States Marine Corps by equating me to a Nazi shows a lack of perspective, a lack of seriousness, and a lack of good judgment. You should be ashamed of yourself."

Yup...Liberals still love Photoshop.

Also, I've noticed that there is a new blog out in the blogosphere; Gillville
I assume that Patrick is the son of Steve Gill, who I interviewed when he came to Tennessee Tech a while ago.

Page 16 News: 1/26/06

Time for Page 16 News, and this one is truly not fit for a liberal news agency.

The 2nd in command of the former Iraqi Air Force (What little one there was) is now saying that Saddam stripped commercial jets of their seats, loaded them up with weapons, and shipped them over the Syrian border.

"The pilots told Mr. Sada that two Iraqi Airways Boeings were converted to cargo planes by removing the seats, Mr. Sada said. Then Special Republican Guard brigades loaded materials onto the planes, he said, including "yellow barrels with skull and crossbones on each barrel." The pilots said there was also a ground convoy of trucks.
The flights - 56 in total, Mr. Sada said - attracted little notice because they were thought to be civilian flights providing relief from Iraq to Syria, which had suffered a flood after a dam collapse in June of 2002...

The book [Saddam's Secrets] also says that on the eve of the first Gulf War, Saddam was planning to use his air force to launch a chemical weapons attack on Israel."

The worst thing about this? These allegations have been stated before (Iraqi Weapons In Syria?), but The Syrian government blew them off, and the media believed them. So after that the nation forgot about it because there was no more coverage on it.
Let's see how the News is reacting now:
Google News search for "Iraq Sada Syria" brings back 3 results.
Yahoo! News brings back one unrelated result.

Also, Mexican border runners are taking notes from the Vietnam War and are using tunnels under the border to not only smuggle people, but also to smuggle massive amounts of drugs across the U.S. border. How do we know? Because there were TWO TONS of Marijuana on the Mexican end waiting to be passed into the states.

"Investigators discovered a sophisticated cross-border tunnel yesterday extending about a half-mile and found about 2 tons of marijuana on the Mexican end.
The tunnel begins about 85 feet below a small warehouse about 175 yards south of the U.S. border. The other end is in an apparently vacant industrial building in Otay Mesa.
Late last night, authorities were still pulling marijuana out of the tunnel, which is outfitted with electricity and a ventilation system. The building is in an industrial neighborhood near Tijuana's airport.

I Hate To Toot My Own Horn...

But TOOT TOOT BABY! As I said before, the article ran in the December 12th edition of the Weekly Standard. Click the picture for a larger view of the article.

And yes I know it took me a long time to get it up, but it also took me a long time to get the issue.

Oooooooooo

Ever since I can remember I have always been a huge NASCAR/Auto racing fan. Also ever since I was born, there have until recently only been Chevy, Ford and Pontiac racing in the NASCAR Winston Cup (Yes, I still call it the WINSTON Cup). A few years ago Dodge decided to throw themselves in the mix and race the Intrepid (Which I might add looked VERY sharp), and now they run the new Dodge Charger. Now Toyota is throwing themselves in the mix for the 2007 season with the Toyota Camry. To me it looks almost identical to the Chevy Monte Carlo body that is currently used now.

Interesting Side Note:
President Bush checks out Tony Stewart's Orange Monte Carlo, and Tony has been so successful in racing that he has become a "regular" at the White House.
"Joe Gibbs, owner of the team and coach of the Washington Redskins, said Bush was joking with all the guys. It got so chummy that one team member gave the president a sporty pat on the rear and told him he is doing a good job, Gibbs said."

Kanye Poses As Christ

Wow, I can tell that this is going to become quite interesting considering the fact that Kanye boldly claimed that "George Bush doesn't care about black people," and now he poses as Jesus, while in the following interview admits that he...well, I'll leave it to the caption on the left from The Sydney Morning Herald to tell you.

That's right. Kanye West is addicted to Porn.

"The strangest tangent of the Rolling Stone story, however, is when West says he's addicted to pornography." - AP

He is also not at all humble, "In America, they want you to accomplish these great feats, to pull off these David Copperfield-type stunts. You want me to be great, but you don't ever want me to say I'm great?"

And for those of you who don't know me personally, then rest assured that I DO NOT agree with this. In my opinion having Kanye represent Christ is blasphemy.

It Is Time

It's January 24th, and that means that it is time for the Democrats to quit hiding and reveal whether they believe that Sam Alito should be the next Supreme Court Justice. Most Democrats have chosen to not give a yes or no until today, as the Opinion Journal's page shows. My thoughts are that the vote will be similar to the voting on John Roberts. And just to see how things are going, let's see how those voting on Alito voted for Roberts:

No for Alito: Vote on Roberts
Dianne Feinstein: No
Ken Salazar: Yes
Dick Durbin: No
Tom Harkin: No
Barbra Mikulski: No
Ted "Daddy" Kennedy: No
John Kerry: No
Max Baucus: Yes
Rob Wyden: Yes
Pat Leahy: Yes

Predictions show that Alito will more than likely be accepted, but legislators are worried that the Democrats will stop the 60 votes needed to prevent a filibuster.

Dust Off Your Walking Shoes New York

ABC's Channel 7 reports that Union members voted down the proposed contract between the MTA and the TWU...by a whole 7 votes. The bargain for the over-paid and under-worked Transit Workers was a 3% raise this year, a 4% raise next year, then another 3.5% raise the year after that, under the stipulation that they would have to pay a whole 1.5% of their entire salary towards MTA provided health insurance. Let's break it down.

GOP and the City reported that the average TWU worker makes $62,000 per year, and pays nothing towards the provided health care. Here will be the salaries as they go, and amount paid towards health care, per year.
Current: $62,000 salary, $0 Towards health care.
2006: $63,860 Salary, $958 Towards health care, $62, 902 Net pay
2007: $66,414 Salary, $996 Towards health care, $65,418 Net pay
2008: $68,738 Salary, $1,031 Towards health care, $67,707 Net Pay

No reports of the deceased voting though.

Osama And Michael...Friends

Liberals everywhere have been in a fit of rage at Chris Mathews claims that Bin Laden sounded a lot like Michael Moore.

Anklebiting Pundits has done a very fine job of comparing the two. Here's some examples from them.

Who Will Win The War And Those Fighting Against America In Iraq
Osama:
Iraq has become a point of attraction and restorer of (our) energies. Only metal breaks metal, and our situation, thank God, is only getting better and better, while your situation is the opposite of that. . ..Don't let your strength and modern arms fool you. They win a few battles but lose the war. Patience and steadfastness are much better. We were patient in fighting the Soviet Union with simple weapons for 10 years and we bled their economy and now they are nothing. In that there is a lesson for you. Finally, I say that war will go either in our favor or yours. If it is the former, it means your loss and your shame forever, and it is headed in this course.
Michael Moore
The Iraqis who have risen up against the occupation are not "insurgents" or "terrorists" or "The Enemy." They are the REVOLUTION, the Minutemen, and their numbers will grow -- and they will win.

Polls About Iraq
Osama:
But I plan to speak about the repeated errors your President Bush has committed in comments on the results of your polls that show an overwhelming majority of you want the withdrawal of American troops from Iraq.. .And so to return to the issue, I say that results of polls please those who are sensible, and Bush's opposition to them is a mistake.
Michael Moore
I would like to extend my hand and invite you to join us, the mainstream American majority. We, the people -- that's the majority of the people -- share these majority opinions:
1. Going to war was a mistake -- a big mistake.
2. You and your administration misled us into this war
3. We want the war ended and our troops brought home.
4. We don't trust you.

"You know, it's funny, I've never seen the left outraged when someone like Harry Belafonte says that Bush is the number one terrorist in the world, or when Senate Democrats smeared Alito so much that Alito's wife was brought to tears, or when Hillary Clinton says the House is run like a "plantation," or when Robert Byrd used the word "ni%%^@#" on television, or how about when went Senate candidate Paul Hackett compared the Republican Party to Osama bin Laden..." - Blogs For Bush

Liberals Love Photoshop

My brother, The Man, at GOP and the City reported a candidate who photoshopped a piece of campaign literature that pasted an Asian couple over the heads of a white couple. Then there was when Moveon.org's photoshopping was discovered, right here on GOP and College.

Now, Code Pink decided to join the photoshopping clans with their shameless stealing of an Iranian woman protesting the Iranian government. Compare the two pictures and see what all they've done over at Michelle Malkin's site. The photo is used as the header for the linked site.

What would gave it away to me:

Democrat Hypocrisy At Its Best

Harry Reid issued a note demonizing 33 Republicans for receiving money from Jack Abramoff entitled "Republican Abuse of Power." However he recently had to apologize for the message after some unwanted flack from the letter. And remember how Democrats blamed Tom Delay as the fall guy for the whole issue? Well, its' time to turn the tables a bit. This is from Capital Eye, showing who took how much.

Tom Delay (R-TX) - $28,000

Some Democrats:
Dick Durbin (D-IL) - $8,000
Hillary Clinton (D-NY) - $1,000
Diane Fienstien (D-CA) - $1,000
Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) - $3,000

But that's nothing right? Chump change compared to Delay. Well, let's look at a few more Democrats.

Tom Daschle (D-SD) - $26,500
Patty Murray (D-WA) - $40,980
Harry Reid (D-NV) - $30,500
Charles Rangel (D-NY) - $31,000

Some of the lead people chastising Tom Delay took almost as much, if not more than he did. Rangel and possibly more Democrats have not yet returned it.

Today In 1807

January 19, 1807 in Westmoreland County, VA a boy was born. His parents were Henry "Lighthorse Harry" Lee and Anne Hill Lee. He picked up a scholarship to West Point, where he graduated second only to Charles Mason. After that he became a second Lieutenant in the Army Corps of Engineers. He married Mary Anna Randolph Custis, the greatgranddaughterr of Martha Washington.

In the Mexican War he climbed the ranks to major after distinguishing himself in multiple battles. Soon after the Mexican War ended, Lee was asked to command the Union Army, but he declined, since his loyalties were tosecedingg Virginia, and his family there.

He was given the rank of general, and command of The Army of Northern Virginia, and eventually the entire Confederate Army. However in respect for his rank as a Colonel in the Union, he only wore 3 stars, for the rank of Confederate Colonel.

Lee led the Confederacy through 4 long years of war until finally at Appomattox Courthouse, he signed the formal surrender to theUnionn Army, against the will of Jefferson Davis, as well as some of his otherconstituentss who wanted to start a guerrilla war in theAppalachiann Mountains.

After the war, Lee filed for amnesty, but it was never granted, since the Secretary of State put it in his drawer and forgot about it for decades. Lee declined an offer of $50,000 per year to be the president of the Valley Railroad, but he declined, and instead took a later job as president of Washington University in Lexington Virginia. For the next 5 years he transformed the school into one of recognition and was added into the name of the college, now called Washington and Lee University.

Robert E. Lee died from pneumonia after a stroke on October 12, 1870 at the age of 67. He was buried underneath the chapel at Washington and Lee University.

Uncle Teddy Kennedy Has A Love Child!

That's right folks! The Boston Herald reports that Ted shacked up with a woman, Caroline Bilodeau, back in 1983, who then got pregnant. Ted wanted her to terminate the pregnancy, but she didn't.

“He told her he couldn’t undergo another scandal — not after Chappaquiddick, not so close to his divorce from Joan” said the source. “He was very angry when she defied him and had the child.”
According to the report, Teddy took a paternity test shortly after the child's birth, since then Bilodeau “always seemed to have money.”

More to come later. Keep checking for updates as the story breaks.

*UPDATE 10:30 AM* Ted paid her off with $15,000 to keep quiet.
*"Someone in the Kennedy camp" paid her at least $15,000, claims a source. "All of a sudden, a pregnant, unemployed Caroline buys a new black Mustang convertible and an expensive purebred Shar-Pei dog and moved out of her parents' modest home and into an apartment."
*Kennedy was not present when Bilodeau gave birth to her son, Christopher, but a source says the young mother told friends a test established Kennedy's paternity. Afterward, she "always seemed to have money," says the source. - New York Daily News

It's Time To Step Up

Stop The ACLU has called for all bloggers to take a stand against the ACLU in their case against the NSA wire taps. S.T.A received an e-mail from Debbie Schlussel asking to spread the word.

The ACLU has also been trying to get a Rutherford County Courthouse to take down it's Ten Commandments display because "The posting of the Ten Commandments sends the message that only certain believers can receive justice at the courthouse." But take a look at the surrounding displays:
"The Rutherford County display includes copies of the preamble to the Tennessee Constitution, the National Motto, the National Anthem, the Declaration of Independence, the Magna Carta, the Bill of Rights, the United States Constitution and the Mayflower Compact."
This is clearly not a religious exhibit, but a display of the history of law in The United States. From the (yes) Biblical Ten Commandments with the most basic 10 laws, to the original 10 amendments in the Bill of Rights.
My thoughts on it that it should be kept up, but I think that the display is incomplete. Hammurabi's Code is not displayed. Adding that in my opinion would make the display even more infallible as a historical display.

Also, judges are finally getting fed up with the ACLU trying to push its Anti-Christian agenda, and have started to stand up to them saying that their "repeated reference 'to the separation of church and state' ... [is an] extra-constitutional construct [that] has grown tiresome has grown tiresome. The First Amendment does not demand a wall of separation between church and state. Our nation’s history is replete with governmental acknowledgment and[,] in some cases, accommodation of religion....Thus, state recognition of religion that falls short of endorsement is constitutionally permissible."

Success!

Looks like the New York Times was wrong again. After first insinuating that only civilians were killed with this photo, and down right saying it in the accompanying article here, ABC News now reports that 3 major al-Qaeda members were killed in the attacks. They were:

1) Abu Khabab al-Masri - Al-Qaeda lead bomb maker. Had $5 million reward for his capture. "His explosives training manual is still regarded as the bible for al Qaeda terrorists around the world." - ABC Report
2) Khalid Habib, the al Qaeda operations chief for Pakistan and Afghanistan
3) Abdul Rehman al Magrabi, a senior operations commander for al Qaeda

And although they said that it was highly unlikely that Ayman al-Zawahiri was dead, this quote sums it up very well.

"Zawahiri, if he slept three hours on a normal night, he's sleeping an hour and a half right now with his eyes wide open," [former FBI Agent Jack] Cloonan said. "He's looking around right now and wondering who handed him up. Not a nice feeling."

The Liberal Plantation

Hillary might be in the news for talking about how the Republicans have been "running congress like a plantation," but it's easy for her to say that, seeing how Democrats have been truly ruling over African Americans like plantation owners for many years, and that includes the black Democrats. I originally wrote the following piece on October 16, 2004, but I am going to republish a portion of the article, since it is so pertinent to the current news. Phil Valentine's piece was published on the October 13, 2004 edition of The Franklin, TN newspaper, The Review Appeal. The piece has since been taken off of the internet, due to age.

One good thing about [middle Tennessee]? The Conservative Review Appeal. I was reading through Wednesday's edition and came across the Conservative radio show host Phil Valentine's piece "Black Paradigm Shift May Blindside Democrats". He speaks about how the Democrats are taking the African American vote for granted and are starting to lose it. African Americans are starting to look at the people and actually as my dad put it, "seeing the B.S. that they are trying to pass as legit." Phil talks about how a Black woman called his show commenting about a comment he made. He talked to her for a bit and actually got her to pay attention to what Edwards was saying at the debate. She called back after the debate and this was her new outlook. "The following week, Amber called in about the vice presidential debate. She remarked that John Edwards talked about a ''plan'' for Iraq and a ''plan'' for the economy but produced no details of the ''plan.'' She was not impressed. She was, instead, struck by Dick Cheney's command of the issues and his straightforwardness."
Then this was the clincher for me. Something that I've been looking for for ages."Why have so many blacks stayed with the Democrats for so long? Former Congressman J.C. Watts refers to government entitlements as the ''liberal plantation.'' Too many black Americans have been trapped on this liberal plantation and feel beholden to the Democrats for keeping the gravy train rolling. There are two types of people who escape the trappings of this liberal plantation. There are those who break the shackles or who have rejected them all their lives. These are the J.C. Watts, the Colin Powells, the Clarence Thomases. Those too frightened to make a run for it call these people ''Uncle Toms.'' The others who escape the trappings become the foremen on the plantation. They crack the whip on those below them and keep them too scared to leave, becoming rich in the process. These are the Al Sharptons and the Jesse Jacksons. What these purveyors of fear don't realize is that there are a lot of people like Amber who now realize that the key to their happiness rests within themselves and not the government."

Page 16 News - 1/18/06

Time for some more Page 16 News here at GOP and College. Again, two articles this time.

First on the list is the REAL WMD's found in Iraq. And they have been found. Courtesy of Blonde Sagacity, from back in November '05

1) 1.77 metric tons (3900 lbs) of enriched uranium
2) 1,500 gallons of Chemical Weapons Agents
3) 17 warheads containing cyclosarin
4) 1,000 radioactive materials (in powdered form) to be spread over populated areas
5) Roadside bombs filled with Mustard Gas and Sarin Gas

Second is The MSM/DNC lies of 2005, from The Cassandra Page. Some examples:

January 30, 2005 - L.A. Times prepares slanted story and headline in advance of the election. The headline had to be scrubbed from later editions due to the success of the elections, but the original version was rescued from the memory hole by S & C.

November 11, 2005. Chris Matthews misrepresents the administration's reasons for attacking Iraq and removing Hussein from power. The administration never claimed that Hussein planned 9/11, but Matthews and the MSM/DNC continue to use this strawman as a basis to snipe at the President.

There are a total of 54 in depth lies. Also The Cassandra Page has more about WMD's found in Iraq.

I like the quote on that page, "By "weapons of mass destruction," what liberals mean is: missiles pointed at Washington, D.C., with their "Ready to Fire" lights blinking ominously and their warhead payloads clearly marked "Weapons of Mass Destruction! Next Stop, The Great Satan America!" -- basically what you might see on an episode of the original Batman TV series. When we didn't find that, the "Bush lied, kids died!" screaming began."

Republicans = Osama Bin Laden

I just have to laugh at Democrats trying to claim that they are a Pro-Christian Party, because shortly after that statement, they go off and say something like this:

"The Republican Party has been hijacked by the religious fanatics that, in my opinion, aren’t a whole lot different than Osama bin Laden and a lot of the other religious nuts around the world." - Ohio Senate Candidate Paul Hackett

On top of that statement, when asked for an apology, he said, "I said it. I meant it. I stand behind it." - The Columbus Dispatch

More Leftists ≠ Free Speech

Voltaire once said, "I disapprove of what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it," and it might as well be the Left Wing Child-Porn-Is-Free-Speech motto. But not if your thoughts disagree with what they think. After all, their line of thought is absolute and infallible.

However Free Speech is not allowed for students at Carroll High School in Ft. Wayne Indiana, where a student was expelled for writing a satire about the school's administration.

"Jeff Fraser, a 17-year-old senior and founder of the Allen County Teenage Republicans, wrote a book titled "Carroll" that was modeled after Jon Stewart's book "America." The book blasted the administration for its lack of diversity, criticized teachers and their methods and singled out a few students in what was meant to be a satire, said Fraser's friend, Sam Wysong, 17." - The Journal Gazette

Tennessee Democrats: Pro Fraud

Washington Democrats scream "Cronyism in the Bush Administration", but here in Tennessee we shoot it right back at them.

When John Ford resigned from the State Senate for taking thousands in bribes and making multiple death threats to FBI and TBI agents, a relative, Ophelia Ford stepped in to take his place. She won by 13 votes over Terry Roland. It later broke that at least 6 or 7 of those votes were fraudulent. Two votes were by a dead woman, and 4 or 5 more were from convicted felons (which is illegal). Then it arose that 40 votes were from people living outside the district, 60 didn't sign the ballot correctly, and 31 had election official's signature forged. That's a total of at least 136 fraudulent votes.

A vote was taken by the 33 State Senators, and of them 15 of the 16 Democrats voted to keep Ophelia in office. Their defense?
"It's about racism. It's about 'Jim Crow'-ism. I'm black. It is 85% black vote in that district, District 29. They want this seat." - Ophelia Ford
Pictured is Ophelia on the right, with now felon Kathryn Bowers on the Left.

On top of that Tennessee State Troopers were the greatest benefactors of the Democrats sneaky activity. Of the 855 Tennessee State Troopers on the force, Forty-Eight either had a suspended license, or were convicted felons. Some of them had multiple criminal offences. And as for Cronyism? Of the people promoted since Bredesen took office, 2/3 of them gave campaign contributions. Also, Troopers are apparently allowed to "fix tickets." That's what a Knoxville DA said recently. So if you ever get a ticket from a TN State Trooper. You are allowed to give them say, a bottle of whiskey to drink on the job, or even cash. And later, "unrelated to the gift," your ticket will probably be let go.

Finally, the next time Hillary Clinton claims a "Culture of Corruption" I'm going to smack this to her face.

1) Accepted a $100,000 bribe, laundered through cattle futures, from Tyson Foods, Inc.
2) Speculated in Health Care industry futures while overseeing legislative reform of same.
3) Failed to correct false testimony by co-defendant Ira Magaziner in the Health Care Task Force trial.
4) Ordered members of the Health Care Task Force to shred documents that were the target of a court probe.
5) Obstructed justice by ordering the removal and shredding of Vince Foster's documents on the night of his death.
6) Hired Craig Livingstone to conduct a political intelligence operation against her opponents.
7) Defrauded the U.S. Treasury of more than $10 million by funneling Community Development 8) Financial Institutions grants to financial institutions in which she has an interest.
Ordered Treasury officials to cover up the fraud by fabrication of false documents.
Hillary Clinton is under investigation by an Independent Counsel.

Read more about it to see how the entire Clinton Administration might go down as the worst administration ever.

About Time It Was Reported

The AP as well as CBS News finally decided to report the fact that the Clinton Administration did searches on terrorists without warrants. And that's not all folks. The Clinton Administration actually went so far as to have physical searches.

"It's my understanding that during the Clinton administration there was activity regarding physical searches without warrants," Gonzales said. "I can also say it's my understanding that the deputy attorney general testified before Congress that the president does have the inherent authority under the Constitution to engage in physical searches without a warrant. And so, those would certainly seem to be inconsistent with what the former vice president was saying today."

But that didn't stop Algor (purposely spelled that way) from "forgetting" and claiming that Bush was threatening the very structure of government by doing so.

Also, Stop The ACLU has a report on the ACLU suing the NSA, claiming that, “Because of the nature of their calls and e-mails, they believe their communications are being intercepted by the NSA under the spying program.”

*Update* From The American Thinker on Jan 12th, NY Times claims that Clinton Era eavesdroppingng is "a necessity."
"While few dispute the necessity of a system like Echelon to apprehend foreign spies, drug traffickers and terrorists, many are concerned that the system could be abused to collect economic and political information.

"The recent revelations about China's spying activities in the U.S. demonstrates that there is a clear need for electronic monitoring capabilities," said Patrick Poole, a lecturer in government and economics at Bannock Burn College in Franklin, Tenn., who compiled a report on Echelon for the Free Congress Foundation. "But those capabilities can be abused for political or economic purposes so we need to ensure that there is some sort of legislative control over these systems.""
*Note - I lived in Franklin since I was 2, and I've never heard of Bannock Burn College*

Republicans are "The Man"

That's what Hillary "I'm hiding my intents to run for Pres in '08" Clinton is trying to push towards African Americans. However she forgets that it has pretty well become Democrat Policy to stall and try to put down any Republican legislature, regardless of what impact either their lack of action, or the bill's passing would make.

But of course that must have slipped her mind. After all it's easy to forget the Democrats threatening to filibuster John Roberts, simply because he was Bush's nominee.

African Americans complain about how they are oppressed, and kept down, especially in inner-city areas. My charge to those people is to read the book, Scam: How the Black Leadership Exploits Black America. How can you listen to and idolize people who have an illegitimate child then pay her off with money that were from a tax exempt charity? How can you listen to Jesse Jackson preach about honesty and integrity, less than 2 years after his illegitimate child was born.

URGENT UPDATE TO PAGE 16 NEWS

Lawhawk has just sent me a link about the extents that Iran's President has been going to. The situation is getting serious folks. There have been 5 fighter wings deployed to the Gulf since New Years, each having 72 planes. That's 360 air craft that have been moved over seas.

Is the US prepared to possibly go to fight 3 fronts at a time? It doesn't look like it. That doesn't bode well for Israel, who has been threatened with extinction lately. There is hope however at Iraqi Forces lending a hand. As much as I hate to agree with Murtha (ONLY IN PART) a TRUE strategic redeployment of troops to Iran may be in the future for the Army and Marines. This man is just as crazy, or even more so that Saddam himself, and right up there with Uday and his brother. I'm just glad the rest of the world saw it before someone in the UN was bribed with oil.

Be prepared folks for another media deemed "unjust quagmire to imperialize a harmless, peaceful nation."

WunderKraut's plan? It's MAD (Mutually Assured Destruction). This means that it will be understood foreign policy that if a country tosses even 1 nuke at another, the US will launch not only heavy conventional attacks, but a vast large scale nuclear assault on that country.
I like Lawhawk's explanation the best:
"Thus, if Iran launches even a single nuke at Israel or Kuwait or Saudi Arabia, all of Iran gets a one way trip to the center of the sun in 30 minutes or less, or your money back."

The New York Times Is So Anti-War...

The NY Times is so anti-war, that they can't even tell a gun fired projectile from a rocket propelled Hellfire missile. The Times had a picture posted up saying, "Pakistani men with the remains of a missile fired at a house in the Bajor tribal zone near the Afghan border."

Let's do a comparison of the two objects. First, the accompanying article to the picture has this to say;
"The raid is believed to have been carried out by the C.I.A., using missiles fired by a remotely piloted Predator aircraft, on the basis of information gathered in an aggressive effort to track Mr. Zawahiri."
So let's look at what the Predator takes for it's armament. 2 Hellfire Missiles, which can be seen in a picture on this page.

I can see how you would mistake the yellow stripe (Like the ones going down the NY Times Editor's backs) but look at this!

Left: short, stubby and round, with a long tapered nose, an obvious artillery fuse on the top, and that weird looking ring on the bottom of it is the piece that locks with the rifling inside the gun barrel. My pick: a 155mm artillery shell, class, D562

Right:Tall, thin WITH WINGS, and a laser guidance receiver. There's the first tip off right there that it's NOT a missile. Hellfires weigh about 99 pounds and are 1.63 meters long, or about 5'4" tall. The man in the picture would have to be over 8' tall then to stand next to the missile how he currently is.

*Positive Side*
The American Thinker has even turned the picture into a great piece of evidence for the military to go in and do a raid.
"Not only did the NYT get caught in another lie, but they may have unintentionally revealed the village'’s cache of IED ordnance."

Evil Glenn's DNA

Harvey asked the question at Alliance HQ, "What was discovered in Evil Glenn's DNA?." The man who reportedly killed hobos, and blends puppies, but got off of charges because of the DNA evidence.

The conclusions may HORRIFY YOU!! (If you're name is Glenn Reynolds)

Glenn is apparently the long lost relative to Peace-king, GANDHI!! He had tried to hide it from everyone, but when asked about his relation to Gandhi, he told us, "I hate that fact, so I tried to distance myself by being evil. I can't stand the whole peace-monger deal."

When I asked Glenn's Lawyers about the data, they told me that it was a blessing because they could take the "Guilty by association" debate, and turn it around to be "Innocent by family."

Lucky punk.

Page 16 News, 1/16/06

I'm thinking of starting a series of news articles that although they are great stories, either about Progress in Iraq (as opposed to defeatist articles), good news about the economy, or just other good things, that due to media biased would end up on say page 16 of the New York Times.

So for GOP and College's first issue of Page 16 News, we have one story from the Weekly Standard, brought to us in part by the good man at GOP and Me (Formerly My Thoughts...)

"THE FORMER IRAQI REGIME OF Saddam Hussein trained thousands of radical Islamic terrorists from the region at camps in Iraq over the four years immediately preceding the U.S. invasion, according to documents and photographs recovered by the U.S. military in postwar Iraq. The existence and character of these documents has been confirmed to THE WEEKLY STANDARD by eleven U.S. government officials."

Also, CENTCOM reports that there are now over 223,000 trained Iraqi Security Force members. This is up 77% from at the beginning of 2005, when there were 127,000. There are now 120 battalions, and 40 of them are "in the lead in defending Iraq."

Not Hard To Win...

Update To AP-Ipsos Poll

The AP-Ipsos Poll and Yahoo story came out just one week after a Rasmussen Poll stated that 51% of Democrats, and 81% of Republicans. THAT was an even poll, with possibly a few more Republicans, but most likely a few more Democrats. How did I come to that conclusion? Here:
Assume that 100 registered and voting democrats were polled. Now add the same for 100 Republicans, and the same for 100 independents 51 Democrats would have said yes, it is the right thing to do, and 81 Republicans would have said yes, and 57 Independents would have done the same. This leaves 189 people out of 300 surveyed the action was correct. That makes for a 63% approval. Now add a balance of 10 extra republicans to the mix. A total of 310 polled. That boosts the number to 197 people out of the 310 polled saying it was good. Take the percentage of that, and you have 63.5%, which rounds up to the 64% the poll resulted in.
Now, to find the percentage of who was polled. In this situation, 32.25% were Democrat, 32.25% were Independent, and 35.5% were Republican.

Now this is just about a Worst Case Scenario for over loading Republicans. Now factor in that most people when polled choose a party affiliation, and we see another story. The fact is that the fewer independents there are, the more Democrats have to come in to make up the difference. Let's assume now that 45% polled were Democrat, 45% were Republican, and 10% were independent. This gives approximately 38 Republicans, 6 Independents, and 23 Democrats out of every 100 polled. This makes for a 67% approval. So you have to stack more Democrats to lower the approval.

Then the liberals go on to say that "They didn't ask the question right! Bush was breaking the law." Well, here's my question to you: If 64% of the nation agrees that it was the right thing to do, then why is it "illegal" in the first place? Or would the nation even care that it was "illegal" in the first place? And why haven't libs fessed up to the fact that multiple previous presidents have done THE SAME EXACT THING?

And now the Whistle Blower has emerged. Do I see a Federal Pen Jump Suit in line with his name on it?

Partisan Opposition To Eavesdropping Terrorists

The latest AP-Ipsos poll aimed at gaining opposition to eavesdropping on possible terrorists without a warrant, came out that 56 people opposed the tapping, while 42 were for it. However a deeper look into the poll shows that 52 of the 100 respondents claimed to be Democrats. On the other side, only 40 of them claimed to be Republican. The remaining 18 of the people were not able to vote, and their party affiliation was not recorded.

The polling was so lop-sided that even the Associated Press mentioned that party affiliation was a major factor in the poll.

"What you’ll see is that the poll is weighted to Democrats by a whopping 12 points. At best, a 4 point weighting is in order. The overrepresentation of Democrats is more than enough to account for the poll’s result since the undersampled Republicans were much more likely to say no warrant is required." - Right Side Of The Rainbow

Abortion Craze in India

A recent study shows that parents in India have close to 500,000 abortions per year, simply because the baby that would have arrived, was going to be a girl. There is a craze there for having boys. There were some disturbing numbers.

*Average worldwide births are 100 boys to 105 girls*

Previous child was a girl:
759 girl births to every 1000 boy births

Previous 2 children were girls:
719 girl births to every 1000 boy births

Previous Child was a boy:
"...the gender ratio among successive births was about the same." - Yahoo!

And on top of that, educated mothers reportedly have even more abortions to avoid having their second child be a girl. However that number has not been disclosed yet.

After affects of this infanticide include:
A ratio of 93 females to 100 males in India, and falling
Bachelors being forced to buy their wife
60% of baby girls being killed within 3 days AFTER birth in areas like the Salem District

In a letter to NARAL/Pro-Choice America, I had this to ask them:
"I recently came across an article about how parents in India were getting close to 500,000 abortions per year, simply because the fetus was going to be a girl. My question is, since NARAL supports legalizing abortions and making them easy to obtain. Do you support abortions for the solely because of the baby's gender? Do you support abortions for parents who are able to easily raise the child, but just decided not to use birth control?"

Ethics in TN Government

If you aren't up to date on the shenanigans that happened at Nashville's Capitol Hill with John Ford, and other legislators in the Tennessee Waltz, then here's the scoop. The TBI and FBI did a long term sting operation forming a "company" called E-Cycle, which was "based" in Atlanta, GA. Now, this sting was conducted from 2003 to the end arrests of seven legislators on May 24, 2005, and why in those two whole years they never thought to check the background of the company is beyond me.

Aside from that, now the Tennessee Government is voting on an Ethics Bill which would make many of the legislator's previous actions a crime. The Tennessean has a nice break-down of not only some examples, but in particular, who to watch throughout the whole process.

Some people it will affect:
Frank Buck (D - Dowelltown) - purchased UT tickets with campaign funds
Russell Johnson (R - Loudon) Purchased UT tickets with campaign funds
Gary Moore (D - Joelton) President of Tennessee Professional Firefighters Association, a group that lobbies in TN legislature.
Jimmy Naifeh (D - Covington) Bought Tennessee Titans Tickets with campaign funds, and will have to disclose potential conflicts of interest prior to voting on any bill lobbied on by his wife, Betty Anderson, who is a lobbyist for special interests.
Kathryn Bowers (D - Memphis) Was arrested and convicted of a federal crime for taking bribes in the Tennessee Waltz. If passed, she would not be allowed to serve in government because of that arrest.
Roy Herron (D - Dresdon) Paid off his persona credit car bills with campaign funds, and listed vague descriptions of the purpose on his campaign spending disclosure form

Best Ethics Quote - "For me to sit here and to be accused of violating the ethics rules is beyond me," John Ford, March 16, 2005, the same day he met with an E-Cycle representative about delaying the bill, and receiving $5,000 more in bribe money from E-Cycle.

When Life Imitates Hollywood

*Title stolen from GOP and the City*

Hollywood:

11,000!!!

Normally, this would be me gloating about how many hits this site has received since first opening shop back in 2004, but this time, it's about Wall Street. For the first time since June 7, 2001 the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose to over 11,000. It closed today at 11,011.90 This is the highest it has been since before the attacks on the World Trade Centers (among other things) that caused the market to drop 14% in one week, and eventually bottom out at 7286.27 on October 9, 2002. However there is still quite a ways to go to reach the all time closing high of 11,722.98 on Jan. 14th of 2000.

"It sends a signal that the U.S. economy has weathered some pretty harsh storms over the past few years and in recent months," Art Hogan, chief investment strategist at Jefferies & Co., said of the Dow's achievement. - Yahoo!

But the Dow Jones isn't the only one that set long time highs. Nasdaq (The high tech average) is at 2,318.69 which is the best close since February 20, 2001. However it is still far below the over 5000 mark of the technology boom in 2000. The S&P 500 (Small cap businesses) is at a 4 1/2 year high with today's closing at 1,290.15. - More from Yahoo

Oh, and as the media says, "Bush is killing the economy, pass it on."

US Troops are EEEVIL!

That's why they took in an Iraqi infant with Spina Bifida and are in the process of giving the baby $200,000 worth of surgery to fix the problem. The infant was discovered in Abu Ghraib (the city, not the prison) by US troops who saw that the baby was paralyzed and had what they thought was a tumor on her back. The baby, her father and her mother flew into the Atlanta Airport on New Year's Eve, and the surgeries began today. Source - Yahoo!

Also, 4 Iraqi children have life-saving Heart Surgery, thanks to the US military. - Yahoo! (Again)

*Side Note* Well, crap. I missed out on the event by two nights. I drove down to Atlanta to surprise my girlfriend at the airport, along with her dad on the 29th. Oh well.

Oh How The Mighty Have Fallen

After 34 consecutive games, The Southern Cal Trojans finally lost a game, and I'm a SO HAPPY ABOUT IT! I cannot express how badly I wanted Texas to beat USC. I saw a graphic on the pregame show that was kind of a no pun intended graphic of which states favored Texas, and Which ones favored USC. And the (hopefully) unintended pun was that Texas states were red, and USC states were blue. And if it weren't enough to do that, the map was just about the same appearance of the Red and Blue election maps of late 2000, and 2004. Now that I think of it, USC was doomed from the start because ABC called Florida for USC long before the game started.

Now I will say, I was expecting a blow-out, and it would have happened if the Texas backs had learned how to hold onto the ball! They coughed the ball up 4 times but fortunately only one was turned over. After that the sure handed Young pretty well took over the game, racking up a total of 467 combined passing and rushing yards, and 3 scores.

I would have liked to see the game a blow-out also to shut up the people who are going to complain about the missed review of Young's lateral for a touchdown, instead of being stopped at the 12 yard line. However there was an equally important play that could have turned the tides of the game as well that wasn't reviewed. It was the missed interception of Matt Leinart where the Texas defender jumped up, caught the ball with possession, and fell to the ground. When his back hit the ground, the ball fell out, which by NCAA rules, is considered a complete pass. The announcers called it as an interception, but the play went unreviewed. That call eventually turned into USC's only Field Goal of the game.

And one last thing. The only holding call I saw was on either a kick off or a punt return. Has anyone ever seen a game where there wasn't a single call of holding on either team's offensive line? Seems fishy to me, because I saw USC doing a LOT of bear hugging.

Welcome Back!

GOP and College is back from celebrating CHRISTMAS and New Year's, and I've got a little snippet I found just the other day about the "Bridge to nowhere." I got into a political discussion this past weekend about Government Pork, and the bridge came up, and the real facts for its existence came through to my attention. It's not just that 50 people live on the island, but the fact that that area has no flat land, except on that island. So what needs a large amount of flat land in a place like that? The only airport that can bring tourists and freight to that area. The area is frequented by tourists due to it's spectacular natural beauty, as well as for being a launching point for many Alaskan Cruises. An estimated 800,000 to 1,000,000 travelers would be expected after the bridges construction. After those passengers get there, instead of driving to land or taking a cab, the passengers and cargo have to take expensive ferry boats to get across to the mainland.

My first thought on the subject is that the Representatives from Alaska should have explained the bridge's purpose better.

Second is my solution to the problem. Build the bridge, and make it a toll bridge with a charge of say 50 cents per pass (as opposed to the $5.00 ferry ride, and an additional $6.00 to take a car across). Atlanta built the famous Highway 400 (a.k.a. Atlanta Autobahn) and it paid itself off in less than one year, due to the immense traffic that took the road. Now, even though the bridge would probably not pay for itself that fast, it eventually would, and then would start generating an income for the town.

So there's my final thought on the "Bridge to Nowhere" Build it to bring more people to see the untouched beauty of Alaska. And as for the politicians; Learn how to explain the real reason for wanting something done.

*Side note*
"Conservatives believe that the individual is foolish while the species is wise." Umm, whoever said this is sadly mistaken. Liberals feel like the individual is foolish, and needs the government to think for them. Conservatives believe that the person is inherently smart, and can take care of his/herself.
