Back In Black!

Back in black, I hit the sack,
I've been too long, I'm glad to be back
Yes I'm let loose from the noose,
That's kept me hangin' about
I been lookin' at the sky 'cause it's gettin' me high,
Forget the hearse, 'cause I'll never die
I got nine lives, cat'S EYES
Each and every one of them and running wild

'Cause I'm back! Yes, I'm back!
Well, I'm back! Yes, I'm back!
Well, I'm baaack, baaack...
Well, I'm back in black,
Yes, I'm back in black!

Oh that car looks GOOD! Now let's see it land in Victory Lane this weekend at Talledega.

And as if it wasn't expected that The Intimidator would be inducted into the Motorsoprts Hall of Fame.

My Mom Rocks!

My Mom sent this to Phil Valentine after attending a town hall meeting about "demagnetizing" the United States to Illegal Immigrants (while staying a magnet to LEGAL Immigrants).

Phil,

My parents live in Springfield Missouri, 4th largest city in MO. They do not have an illegal immigrant problem there. The unions visit the various job sites and check for green cards. Employers hiring illegals are reported by the unions. Thus, there is not a large number of immigrants in the building trade as there is here.
Pass this hint onto your friends in the unions here in TN! If there are no jobs they will not come. You cannot tell me that legal citizens have not been displaced from their construction jobs here in TN by illegals.

Shame on American businessmen who are hiring illegal immigrants for the sake of cheap labor and then throwing any cost of benefits, like health services, back on the American taxpayer. Shame on American politicans for turning a deaf ear to the people they are supposed to represent! This could be the quickest downfall for our great country.

Right on, Mom.

Another question. How come anti-gun liberalsclaim they would be able to track down and confiscate 200 million fire arms, but Open-Border Liberals can't track down 12 million Illegal Immigrants?

He Has A Point

(Evil) Glenn Reynolds has a scoop about "Papa" Teddy's objection to wind turbines that is starting to get Americans (even liberals) pissed off at one of the most liberal members of the U.S. Senate. Kennedy claims to be opposed to a Cape Cod wind turbine because it would, "reduce tourists to that area," but everyone knows that it's really because Kennedy is a die-hard NIMBY Liberal. He will support the most radical left wing idea, as long as it doesn't affect him.
One of Glenn's readers comments saying;
"There are over 8,000 graceful, slender bright white windmills just west of my house, in the Tehachapi hills. They are quite nice to look at; some would even say lovely. They ATTRACT TOURISTS. People come from all over the world to take photos. They spend money at the hotels and restaurants, then leave. Foreign film makers come here to use the wind farms as backdrops for weird movies or music videos. They rent stuff, take photos, spend money at the hotels and restaurants, then leave. The point is, wind farms are an attraction, and can be an attractive attraction. All it takes is the proper attitude."

She even sent this picture. She likes the windmills, and I agree that they look nice. But I like the foreground more!

Loose Change Does Have Some Screws Loose

The hour and 20 minute internet movie, Loose Change, states that the government caused 9/11. Along with many other conspiracy theorists, here are what they "claim,"...and then I have what is actually known.

Dynamite blew up the world trade center - FALSE! They claim that the bursts of smoke and debris from the windows below the falling stories are dynamite blasts. Obviously, they have never taken a fluid dynamics class. Anyone who has pressed on a baloon knows that when you press one place, the air goes another. Make this a 208 foot by 208 foot by 11 foot tall balloon and you have the same thing. That's 475,904 cubic feet of air, at ambient pressure. Each foot that the towers collapsed on a floor reduced that number by 43,264 cubic feet of air. It doesn't take much reduction before the air finds the quickest way out of the building. Through shattered, or empty glass panes, taking any dust, papers, or other light objects with it. Thus giving the appearance of an explosion. MYTH 1 GONE
Explosion when the plane hit the first tower was twice as big as the fuselage. - FALSE! Something else had to be happening. - Umm...last time I checked, the fuel for powering a Boeing 767 is located in the wings...not the fuselage, so of course the explosion will be larger than the fuselage. MYTH 2 DEBUNKED
The pilot who flew the plane into the pentagon couldn't have flown the plane because he had trouble flying a Cesna. - FALSE! In an interview in the movie, they interviewed a guy from where he flew the Cesna said that he flew it "average." And anyone who has ever played Microsoft Flight Simulator knows that it is easier to fly the big, forgiving Boeing than it is to fly the small, agile Cesna. MYTH 3 KILLED
Another thing is that the light poles that were clipped by the airplanes looked like htey were taken down as oppsed to ripped out, or cut in half. - FALSE! They now make poles that are easy to break away when a car hits them. I would assume that the force of a plane hitting the pole would be greater than that of a car. Even if you take the equation of torque required, and such...it's still far greater than a car. The pole would snap its easy-break supports and appear undamaged, if not bent where the wing clipped it. MYTH 4 DONE
But there was no trace of the plane! - FALSE! Now that's just Bull S#$% MYTH 5 KILLED
The I-Beams on the Pentagon were still there, but not on the WTC. - FALSE Um...there were no outside I-Beams on the WTC, they are all on the inside. MYTH 6 PUT TO REST
The path is more like a fighter jet. - FALSE! Last time I checked, jet fighters don't have a 200 mile turning radius. MYTH 7 DEAD
The list goes on and on. Why can't people just reaize that it's not always Bush's fault.

That Is One HOT Gun

Paintball gun that is. I am an AVID paintball player, and even was able to compete in an MSPA tournament in April of 2005 with Team DXM (Disciples with Xtreme Ministry). We placed 30th of 32 teams because it was all of our first true tournament, and we were VERY out gunned. I own a Syndicate Misfit, one other guy had one, we had one Silver Bullet, and the other 2 guys had mechanical Auto-Cockers. This is a time when shooting over 15 balls per second is standard, and we were lucky to muster up 6 bps. "But that's just spraying paint," you might say. Yes, but the other guy can't move while they are pinned behind a bunker. So, you take advantage of that and advance on them. But I'm not going to go into tactics...yet.

So, from here on, I am going to lightly dive into my favorite extreme sport, and enlighten those who do not know much about the fastest growing extreme sport in the United States, paintball!

If you have never seen a paintball gun, then allow me to show you the industry standard of paintball, The Smart Parts Shocker. This gun has become the most commonly used paintball gun in the sport. At a mere $600, you can shoot at over 15 bps, accurately and consistently. Now granted there is other gear, such as a mask, hopper, N2/Air tank, and other optional add ons, but the gun is usually the foundation.

I figure, why let jimmyb have all the fun showing off his guns? So I'm going to show off mine!

*If you're wondering the guy in the video probably went through 100-150 shots in 8 seconds (and yes, it was a shocker)*

Iraqi Terrorists Get Desperate

Abu Musab al-Zarqawi is the newest Al-Queda frontman to dive into the internet video scene. He claims that the United States will be defeated, and will have to exit Iraq in shame. HAH! What an idiot. The only thing this tape has done is to further hasten his capture by U.S. and coalition forces. For a long time we have been going off of a vague picture of Abu Musab, and now we have a current, very detailed picture to go along with the very nice reward for information that leads to his capture.

So to all Iraqi's in Baghdad, and the few areas where the waning insurgency still lingers...

Have you seen this man? If so, contact the local United States Army men in your area, and help this deranged murderer get thrown in jail.

Also, be sure to check out the synopsis of this lunatic's 34 minute video, courtesy of CentCom:
"Arab media and on-line reaction notes that this is the first time Zarqawi has shown himself. Some commentary views this as a sign of weakness in the face of political progress being made in Iraq. Other commentary reiterates criticism of Zarqawi's tactics, which target innocent Muslims and undermine the legitimacy of the Iraqi insurgency. Al-Arabiya featured an Egyptian analyst who said that both Zarqawi and bin Laden "are trying to assert the existence and strength of the organization." The program also featured the Iraqi national security advisor asserting that Zarqawi's people are killing Iraqi civilians. Al-Jazeera prominently featured State Department official Alberto Fernandez, who predicted the terrorist's message would be rejected not only in the West but in the East, adding that the tape demonstrates Zarqawi's desperation. Online commentary discusses Zarqawi's character. Bloggers refer to him as a "bloody psychopath," "criminal," and "terrorist;" a minority support him as a leader of the "resistance" in Iraq. Interestingly, many said the video refutes the popular theory that Zarqawi is an imaginary bogeyman created by the Americans to justify US actions."

GOP and the City's Jail Blogging

My brother, over at GOP and the City has a great idea...He is journaling Roger Toussaint's 10 days in jail. Roger's exciting first day included:

  • Walking to jail

Evil Glenn Laces Podcasts!

I was sitting at home the other night, listening to Glenn's Podcast, and suddenly, I blacked out, and had $65,000 sitting in my living room. Twenty minutes later, I woke up again with the podcast still playing, looking at my bank statement online seeing it had $65,000 more in the account. Then I woke up 5 minutes later with a new report playing on the Podcast, and the money had left without a trace. It's WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEIRD!

I think Glenn might have laced my podcast with some hidden messages.
"If only we were getting 99 cents per download . . . .
UPDATE: Or, er, anything at all . . . ." - Glenn

*This story is a filthy lie. I could only WISH I actually had $65,000*

HAH! You Can Have Them!

I read this over at Overheard in New York. It's what the loony left can look forward to as their leaders in about 10 years.
Girl: Are you a conservative or a liberal?
Guy: I know all teenagers are supposed to be liberal, but I'm pretty conservative.
Girl: Oh my god, I know exactly what you mean. I was conservative until last week when I saw V for Vendetta. How hot is Natalie Portman?

And one other thing I was thinking of; Illegals wanting to "take back" the south west, which was given to us as part of a treaty after the Mexican American War in 1848. Well, I say they can have California. Sure, it's got Hollywood, and all that stuff, but it's also the single largest drain on our government. I say if Mexico wants California, then they can have it and all of it's problems.

Woohoo!

I took 4th place in GOP and the City's Weekend Caption Contest this past week, and a spot on the coveted In The Right Place Caption Contest, as well as top spot in the OTB Gone Hollywood Caption Contest, and second in another past one. I may be on a roll.

Also, be sure to catch the newest Online Conservative Media Hub, Hot Air. It's an online conservative news source founded by Michelle Malkin, as well as others. The site's video feeds are a little slow to download, but it's a new site, and they'll get more bandwidth eventually.

Hot Wing Conspiracy Week 3 Recap

F.M. Ragtops has it this week. And if I'm not mistaken, I think I laid claim to week 4. But anywho, I whooped up on RFTR, 9-2-1. I just wanted to return the favor of his win in our only game in the HWC football league.

"Baghdad Bombers: 9
RFTR: 2
More total domination. Led by a monster week by Big Papi, Baghdad Bombers bombed the competition like the US bombed Baghdad. I mean, look at the damn score! I can’t come up with a witty way to say it. It hurts just to look at it. And you would think Konerko, Abreu, Chavez, and Sexson could keep your head above water, but not last week." - F.M. Ragtops

This huge win vaulted me up from 13th to 9th. My goal is at the end of week 22 to be in 6th or better (playoff spot). Because I'm going for HWC Gold again!

One thing that is not noted in the recap at F.M. is the fact that the Columbia Cardinals were down I believe 8-3 coming into this weekend's games. He turned it around thgouh, and got a 7-4 victory

Oprah Tries The Pity Approach

I was flipping through the stations Monday afternoon, and it happened that I came across Oprah for about 5 seconds and saw a familiar face. It was the guy who did the Movie "Super Size Me". She was doing a special on the poverty line, and how she felt that the minimum wage should unquestionably be raised to $7 or $8 per hour. Disregard the fact that now someone who is making $10/hr is almost at minimum wage, or anything like that. Oprah is famous (and extremely rich), so she knows best. That wasn't the worst part though. She followed some people who were working full time, and were living either in debt, or just poor.

I was confused at first when they said that they were getting paid in the high $8/hr, and $9/hr, and still living in poverty. Then all of my confusion turned into a mix of outrage, and sudden knowledge of how to fix the problem. What caused that turn about? Their budgets. For example:
Food: $450/mo
Transportation: gas or bus fares
Insurance: Varies
Rent for a 1 Bedroom Apartment: $850/month!
I'm not lying to you! These people were living in the heart of downtown SAN FRANCISCO. One of the most expensive places to live...PERIOD.
The guy who did "Super Size Me" at least looked for a cheap apartment:
"The first step for Morgan and Alex was to find an apartment within their $400-per-month price range. The only neighborhood they could afford was in "the Bottoms." At one time, the apartment below was a crack house."
I live in rural TN, and you know what my VERY NICE, 625 sq foot, one bedroom apartment costs me? $345/month, with water and sewage included. The stable bills I pay are rent, electricity, and cable, and that comes out to about $650/month, with my cable and internet being $120 (and optional). The rest like gasoline, food, and things like that vary.

Here's my quick and apparently un thought of solution to all of your problems. For one, move the hell out of San Francisco, New York, Chicago, WHERE EVER, and go out to the suburbs where it is cheaper to live!
For example. A person making a mere $18,000 ($9/hr) in Athens, TN needs to make over $45,000 in San Fran to live at the same level. Check out the Salary Calculator, and see how cheap it is to live in the suburbs, compared to the big city. You know what else helps? TN has NO STATE INCOME TAX, compared to California where if you make over $38,000 you pay 9.3% out of your pay check to the government, on top of what the federal government takes out...AND, California is in a HUGE budget deficit. Tennessee, a 9.25% sales tax on what you SPEND...and NO DEFICIT.

Raising the minimum wage IS NOT the solution. It's a way to pander to the poor to make them think that you still care. The real solution is moving to where you can actually afford to live. Leave the rich to live in the big cities, and the poor move out. That fixes your inner-city poverty problem, and helps millions live better.

HWC Baseball Week 2

For those of you looking for the Hot Wing Conspiracy Baseball Week 2 Recap...Check out Cake or Death!

Week 1 Recap
Intro to HWC Baseball

I Can't Stand It ANYMORE!

I'm SICK and fed up with left wing moon-bats, trying to paint Iraq as a quagmire and "Bush's Vietnam!"

I'm not critisizing the author of Lies.com, but I will say that it's a good bet that some anti-war activists are using this graphic to help demoralize people here in the states to think that the war is going terribly. Also what is hinted at, but is hard to find, is that the Vietnam graph has a start date of December 1961. I agree with him that using that date is correct because it was the first month of combat related casualties in Vietnam. However what I found was that in 1961, there were a mere 3,200 United States troops in Vietnam, compared to the 183,000 US troops in Iraq in the 2003 (Opens MS Excel spreadsheet). That's about 60 times the troops in Iraq, at the beginning of the war, as there were in Vietnam. Put that into perspective, and there is an average of 600 deaths per month in Vietnam when the troop levels are at 183,000 troops.

Fortunately, the guy comments about and also posts this graphic to help clear up the gross disproportioning of deaths. Of the deaths per units deployed he states:
"I’m completely aware that this comparison is not normalized for number of US troops present in each conflict. This is not a comparison of death rate per unit of troop strength, and it doesn’t claim to be."

But do liberals listen to that fact? No. They continue to tout the fact that "Iraq is unwinnable," and that we have to pull out now, and things like that. What I'm waiting for, is when that graph begins to hit mid-1965 on the Vietnam side, and the liberals no longer have any point. But even now, it shows that deaths in Iraq are beginning to be less than in Vietnam.

The war in Iraq is NOWHERE NEAR the war in Vietnam. In Vietnam, over the course of 7 years, over 58,000 people died, and over 153,000 were wounded, giving a total of over 211,000. In Iraq, there have been a total of just over 2,300 total deaths (1900 combat related)...in OVER 3 YEARS. That's an average of 2 deaths per day, with a peak of 4.7 per day in November of 2004. Over the entire 7 years of Vietnam, they averaged 18 deaths per day, with maximums as high as 80 per day in February and May of 1968, with only about 4 times greater deployment than Iraq. That means that there would have to be over 20 deaths per day in Iraq to meet with that ratio.

But I can't go on about how bad Vietnam was without saying that there was some good in the Vietnam war. As with Iraq, bias in the major media have caused slanted reporting that shows all the bad, and none of the good. Vietnam Helicopter Flight Crew Network has a great bunch of stats about it, and should be read by everyone.

To put it in perspective, in order for the war in Iraq to reach 58,000 deaths, we need to be IN COMBAT there, for another 75 YEARS.

I LOVE SPORTS!

I love local racing Friday night racing at Music City Motorplex...I love ARCA/Remax and Busch racing, and dangit...I LOVE it when the Nashville Predators kick the crap out of the Detroit Redwings!

Friday night was pretty fun. It was the season opener for the Motorplex, and there was a HUGE crowd there. Why? Kevin Harvick was there. And you better believe I was there with my camera. And I got this AWESOME picture of when he was signing autographs. I'm thinking of sending it to KHI for them. I also got some great shots of the racing action.

Then, the next day, I got to watch the ARCA/Remax series and NASCAR Busch guys (and girls) race at the Nashville Super Speedway. I got some REALLY good pictures there too. A couple times though I took the picture a split second too early. There was one incident where a driver spun backed into the wall, and then dropped down the track only to get nailed by another car. I took the shot when the car was on the way down the track, about half a second before the big hit.

Then last night, I went with a friend of mine and her husband to the last home game of the season for the Nashville Predators, against the Detroit Redwings. Detroit went up 1-0 and on one shot, you could SEE the pick going in the goal, but the reviewers had like a 13 inch screen (I could see the review room from our seats) and couldn't see the puck. Preds fans were PISSED, and so was I. But the team made up for it scoring 4 goals in the second period. 3 of them were within about 5 minutes of each other. And they won 6-3. Detroit got 2 unwarranted goals there at the end of the 3rd period, but the game wasn't as close as the score seemed.

OH! And I REALLY wish I had brought my camera. There was one point in I think the 1st Period where Jordin Tootoo came on the ice, and was just looking to hit someone. AND HE DID! He full out leveled the guy in the Detroit zone. It was BEAUTIFUL! Oh, and Kariya got a HAT TRICK! I can't remember if I've ever seen one before that, but I know I have now! That game was AWESOME!

Hot Wing Conspiracy Week One Recap

Week one is over in the Hot Wing Conspiracy Baseball League. And man, did I ever get the smack in the face I needed. First, let's go over the scoring rules for the league. The stats your team builds up are broken down into 12 groups. For batters, there's runs, homeruns, RBI's, Strike-outs, stolen bases, and batter's average. For Pitching, there's Wins, Saves, Strike-outs, Holds, ERA, and WHIP. Each one of those is a win, a loss, or a tie. So in a given week, you can have any combination of wins, losses, and ties that add up to 12.

Now, on to the scores:

Baghdad Bombers: 3
Robots Eat Babies: 8, one tie
I got toasted on this one. Either all of my batters suck, they're all lead off, or the team they're on scores no runs because I only got one offensive victory, steals. Pitching was close, buit not by much. I won in holds and in WHIP, but lost in the others. Well, the tie was in Wins at 3. A horrible week. Just wretched.

Ragtops: 6
RFTR: 5, one tie
These teams were very one sided. Ragtops had the pitching, RFTR had the hitting. And the tie was in the batting average, which I don't think I will EVER see again.

CZC Owns: 5
bRight&Early: 7
Another Batters/Pitchers match. Pitchers won again. *UPDATE* Sorry about the mix up! bRight won that one.

Akhtar The Divorcee: 5
webcats: 6, one tie
This was a very even match, with the tie being in stolen bases. Akhtar got destroyed on batter strikeouts, 21-51. The lower the better.

Columbia Cardinals: 8
The right wing nuts: 4
Bonds was a no-show, but it didn't matter. However, each stat was VERY close. Cardinals didn't play much better than the nuts, despite the score.

Wookies Will Win: 7
Gashous Gorillas: 5
Pretty much a Pitcher/Hitter duel, but some key points in the pitching stole a win away from Wyatt because the points Wookies won weren't much more than Wyatt's. However out of the 5 that Wyatt took, there were some blowouts.

The Glat-inators: 1
The PAWs: 8
Dominance....shear dominance. The score REALLY was the matchup. Glats tied in saves and holds at 1, and only won pitching wins 2-1...And Hafner is a BEAST. 4 HR's, .444 BA, 7 scores, and 5 Ribbie's

Poca Dots Blog!: 8
Repubs Lost in SD: 3

Both teams split horrible pithcing stats (both had ERA's over 5), and Surber pulled the win out in batting.

Week 2 Matchups:
Baghdad Bombers v. Poca Dots
RFTR v. Robots Eat Babies
Ragtops v. bRight&Early
CZC Owns v. webcats
Akhtar v. The right wing nuts
Columbia Cardinals v. Wookies will win
Gashouse Gorillas v. The PAW's
Glat-inators v. Repubs lost in SD

Stealing This From Wyatt...

People I hate (or at least very dislike):

Angelina Jolie

I absolutely cannot STAND how the entertainment industry treats this woman. "Oh Angelina and Brad are the number one couple in America." "They're going to have the most beautiful baby in the world." GAHHHHHHHHHH! I just want to rip my ears off when I hear this pile of horse crap! Does everyone forget the fact that Angelina is a HOME WRECKER? Or the fact that Brad Pitt CHEATED on his (former) WIFE Jennifer Anniston? And people wonder why families all over America are falling apart! BECAUSE WE'RE IDOLIZING THINGS LIKE THIS! We are becoming a nation that is beginning to think it's okay to sleep around while you're married.

Chicago Cubs

I'm a Cardinal's fan. It'd be like saying I'm both a Yankees and a Red Sox Fan. Or a Michigan and Ohio State fan. It just doesn't happen.

Atlanta Braves

See: Chicago Cubs

Jesse Jackson

Don't even start with what you are going to say. Hear me out first. Jesse Jackson has been extorting companies for money to, as he calls it, "increase racial diversity," when he is actually lining his pockets with money from the Rainbow Push Coalition. Let's see what are some of his achievements?
Had an affair and a child with a woman, then paid her child support for years without letting his wife know.
He hasn't paid his taxes in YEARS
He "makes" $1 per year from Rainbow Push, but charged $613,000 in "travel expenses" over about 200 days of travel in 2000 (an average of $3,000 per day of travel)
Rainbow/PUSH took a $5 million donation (read: Protection pay) from Anheuser-Busch because they were not "diverse enough." Jackson still Boycotted the company until they doubled the money to $10 million and gave a distributor spot to his sons in Chicago, even though they had NO experience in the industry.
Took $500,000 from SBC/Ameritech to Citizen Education Fund (Ms. Jackson is the head of that company), for the same reason, then gave his friend Chester Davenport a 7% share in the company for a cost of $60 million. The value of the stake at the time was about $231 million, saving Davenport, and costing SBC/Ameritech a very pretty $171 million.
The list goes on and on. And if you're still thinking that I'm just a "racist bigot," read the book, "Shakedown: Exposing the REAL Jesse Jackson," and look at this page. Then tell me to my face, that Jesse Jackson is a "good man."

Page 16 News 4/11/06

Sorry for the long delay, but today, Page 16 News takes on some race-based issues that have recently been left to the back burner, when if the roles were reversed, the news would be all over the story.

First off is this story, via Michelle Malkin. I came across this story, and just went, "THEY DID WHAT???!!" Read for yourself.
"The NYPD hate-crimes unit is probing a report that a white NYU student killed by a car in Harlem was fleeing a gang of black teenagers screaming "Get whitey!" sources said yesterday. If the report proves true, the violence could turn out to be an eerie replay in reverse of the infamous 1986 Howard Beach murder, where a black man was chased into traffic and killed by a group of white bigots. The 20-year-old student, John Broderick Hehman, died yesterday, six days after the attack. The sources said Hehman might have been targeted as a soft mark for robbers after the teenage gang spotted the caring urban-studies major handing pocket change to a wheelchair- bound man near the corner of 125th Street and Park Avenue Saturday night. The gang of youths, some of them as young as 11, had been smoking pot inside a nearby Popeye's fast-food eatery at 8:30 p.m. when they spotted Hehman walking by and then stopping to help the handicapped man. An anonymous caller later tipped the CrimeStoppers hot line that a group of youths screamed, "Get Whitey!" and ran toward him. Witnesses said Hehman fled into traffic against the light and was hit by a Mercedes-Benz traveling east on 125th Street."
What have most major news companies said about the story?
Four and a half tiny paragraphs.

The other thing I ran into was in the local Middle Tennessee Newspaper, The Tennessean. I found this almost identical story in the pages of the North Jersey Media Group. Remember all of the hype about the black girl who got "raped" by white members of the Duke lacrosse team? And how the Duke season was cancelled, the coach resigned, and a whole mess of other consequences?
Turns out that there was NO DNA evidence ANYWHERE that was linked to any guy on the team. Nothing under her fingernails, her clothes, hair, and they even said that it seemed as though she hadn't even had sex of any sorts for a very long time.

The media is quick to jump on a story where the victim is a minority, but when the perp is a minority...no one seems to cover it.

NASCAR Shows Their Teeth

In a very bitter article at NASCAR's home page, they quite essencially "Lay The Smack Down" on the producers of NBC's Dateline. Some exerpts:

"By its own admission NBC News was so "intrigued by the results of a recent Washington Post/ABC News poll and other articles regarding increasing anti-Muslim sentiments in the United States" that it decided to make the news, rather than merely report.
...It's hard to imagine that NBC News would try to entrap fans in a ploy to make its Dateline segment juicier. But apparently the network did just that; NBC did not deny its actions when confronted by NASCAR.
...While NBC News is at it, why not send a few Kluxers into the infield at Talladega? Talk about being short-sheeted by the end of the night.
...NBC News should know that NASCAR isn't the last bastion of redneck; the people at NBC Sports thought so much of NASCAR -- and its diverse fan base -- that it chipped in with TNT to spend $1.2 billion for broadcast rights the past six years."

And as PCD pinted out in a previous comment, Dateline has been caught in it's own lies before. NASCAR also points it out in this article, again on their site, saying, "Dateline NBC also has been criticized in the past. In 1992, it aired a critical story about fuel tanks on a brand of pickup trucks, using video of the tanks exploding on impact. However, the network later apologized for using toy rockets to ignite the explosion."

I do believe the word "pwned" would fit the situation about now.

NASCAR Responds

NASCAR confronted NBC about their attempt to stage news at a Nextel Cup event, and NBC fessed up to the fact that they were going to plant Muslims in the stands. And amazingly, even the Associated Press picked up the story.

"NASCAR said NBC confirmed it was sending Muslim-looking men to a race, along with a camera crew to film fans' reactions. The NBC crew was "apparently on site in Martinsville, Va., walked around and no one bothered them," NASCAR spokesman Ramsey Poston said Wednesday.
"It is outrageous that a news organization of NBC's stature would stoop to the level of going out to create news instead of reporting news," Poston said.
"Any legitimate journalist in America should be embarrassed by this stunt. The obvious intent by NBC was to evoke reaction, and we are confident our fans won't take the bait," he said."

I'm wondering if Fox would put up the money to buy out NBC's contract with NASCAR, and kick NBC to the curb...

Sporting News has a nice editorial:
"What concerns me is not that Dateline did this, but what the show will do once the newsgathering is complete. Races are daylong events, and if you walk around the grandstands, you run across thousands of people. It's easy to imagine one hateful, inexcusable comment in an entire day being crammed into Dateline's preconceived notions, and fans as a whole being unfairly tarnished. But let's give the show the benefit of the doubt for now.
There's no denying the stereotype exists that NASCAR/NASCAR fans are racist. It's a legitimate story to examine the issue. One way to kill that stereotype is to disprove it. Imagine, the "Muslims" show up at the track, with hidden microphones and hidden cameras, and nobody messes with them. Of course, I doubt Dateline would air that piece.

Jaynelle Ramon of The Arizona Daily Star has some rather funny stereotypes of other sports:
"Is my initial reaction when learning someone likes soccer to say, “Oh, so you must like getting drunk and picking fights and starting riots, and perhaps lighting things on fire, like cars?”
Of course not.
So what do you think of football fans, Jaynelle?
“Aren’t they a bunch of drunk white dudes with their faces painted and letters spelling ‘Jets’ written across their enormous hairy beer bellies?”
“You like hockey? What are you—Canadian?”

Michelle Malkin has some reader reactions and solutions to the issue at her site.

81, 76, 50, 49, 43, 25

No, it's not the numbers you punch in on the show Lost. It's the past 6 months death toll (during combat) of US Soldiers in Iraq. The number of troops being killed by insurgents is soon to reach the bottom of the pit.

But what about the Iraqi Security Forces?
Their deaths in the past 9 months have been decreasing too. 304, 282, 233, 215, 176, 193, 189, 158, 193.

Car bombings?
Past 6 months: 70, 70, 70, 68, 30, 30

Civilian deaths?
Past 8 months: 2489, 1129, 527, 826, 532, 732, 950, 446

But as long as there is an average of one car bomb per day, we can be sure that (despite the fact that an incredible amount of good news is being reported at Centcom) we will hear about how horrible the war in Iraq is going.

HT: My Election Analysis

She'll Never Learn...

Everyone knows about McKinney's incident where she hit a police officer, but I'm gonna go a bit more in depth to the subject.

After the incident she said, "I know that Capitol Hill Police are securing our safety, and I appreciate the work that they do. I have demonstrated my support for them in the past, and I continue to support them now." However, in an incident in 1993 when she first came to Congress says another thing.
"
This is not the first time McKinney has had an encounter with Capitol Hill police. When she first arrived in Congress in 1993, an officer failed to recognize her because she was new and not wearing the congressional pin. After she complained, police put pictures of McKinney up at each security checkpoint to ensure it would not happen again."

And not only that, she has issues with White House Police too.
McKinney also once ran into problems at the White House. USA Today reported that when McKinney, who is African-American, and a young white aide arrived at a welcoming ceremony in May 1998 for then-Italian Prime Minister Romano Prodi, the guard at the gate deferred to the aide as the person of authority. Once in the executive mansion, McKinney said, another guard tried to stop her until Rep. James Moran (D-Va.) stepped in.

"I am absolutely sick and tired of having to have my appearance at the White House validated by white people," McKinney wrote in a complaint to then-President Bill Clinton. "I don't need to be stopped or questioned because I happen to look like hired help."

Something that I've discovered is that she doesn't like to wear her lapel pin, shown at left (I think that's it). This is a pin that helps to tell that she is a congressional member, but in every incident that she has been stopped, she didn't wear it.
In 1993, not wearing it, in 1998, not wearing it, in 2006, not wearing it, and a witness has said that AFTER the officer hitting incident, she STILL didn't wear the pin.
"Brian Robinson, an aide to Republican Rep. Lynn Westmoreland of Georgia, said he spotted McKinney on Wednesday evening as she entered the Longworth House Office Building. Robinson said she walked around the security checkpoint, then — though no one tried to stop her — walked back and showed the police officer her congressional ID. Robinson said she still wasn't wearing her congressional lapel pin."

I think Tom DeLay said it best,
"Everything is racism to her."

NBC Stabbing The Back Of NASCAR

Michelle Malkin covered the story, and it drew a rare long article from (Evil) Glenn Reynolds, and I'm sure Wyatt, as a fellow NASCAR fan will be up in arms about this. Here's the skinny.

NBC is wanting to do an article for Dateline about Anti-Muslim/Anti-Arab discrimination that happens in the states. Their preferred stage? NASCAR. The sport that has steadily increased in viewers from very much a regional event, to people driving thousands of miles for a race, and packing stands and infields with hundreds of thousands of fans, with millions watching live on television (37 million watched the 2006 Daytona 500). NBC recently signed a $4.5 BILLION contract to broadcast the NASCAR season with the opening race, The Daytona 500, and from July through the end of the season in November, and now they are wanting to try to show NASCAR fans as racists as soon as this weekend.

"They want to do the same thing 2 or 3 other times (in various parts of the USA) with one or two Muslim men in each setting. They are looking for men who actually "look Muslim". They want a guy with no foreign accent whatsoever, a good thick beard, an outgoing personality, and someone willing to wear a kufi/skullcap during the filming. ...That said, I'm urgently looking for someone who can be filmed this April 1st weekend at a Nascar event (and other smaller events) in Virginia. NBC is willing to fly in someone and cover their weekend expenses. The filming would take place all day on Saturday and Sunday."

This story could potentially destroy some of NASCAR's budding fan base who would leave the sport afraid to be associated with a "racist" sport. Not to mention the money that would be lost from sponsors who would duck out again, afraid to appear in support of racism. Then the money would trickle down to the drivers. It's already hard enough to get sponsorships to cover the $20-30 million cost per team of running the season in the Nextel Cup. Multiply that by the 43 drivers at each event, and the drivers could potentially lose around $1 billion. Combine that with the fact that NBC's contract ends without renewal after this season, and that's one hell of a going away present.

NASCAR has spent the past decade or so trying to gain more followers of different ethnic backgrounds. Just a couple weeks ago a Black American driver competed in the Nextel Cup for the first time since I think the 70's. On top of that, Kodak's Drive For Diversity has the budding Joe Henderson III coming up through the ranks. I watched him race at what is now the Music City Motorplex. And he was a good driver, it just seemed like he always got caught up in other people's messes, ruining a great finish.

The original event was supposed to be April 1st in Martinsville, but it was pushed back to this weekend, at Texas Motor Speedway. I will say this about the man who wrote the e-mail, Terek El-Messidi. In a past article this was said:
"Mr. Messidi says that he considered Brotherhood ideology and strategy to be irrelevant in the U.S., and banned it being taught within the MSA."

Mr. Messidi, I don't like the fact that you're going to try to paint NASCAR as a racist organization, and would rather you do it on the streets of a city. However I do appreciate the banning of extremist Muslim teaching at UTK.

Democrats Get Out The Muzzle

This from Best of the Web:
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that the Capitol Police yesterday asked a federal prosecutor to approve an arrest warrant for McKinney, who allegedly struck a cop who approached her after she violated Capitol security procedures. The Hill reports that "some Democrats are trying to distance themselves from her":
"There's been a lot of eye-rolling," said an aide to a moderate Democrat who spoke on condition of anonymity. "The national attention it's been getting has been unfortunate. It's becoming a distraction."
A Democratic strategist concurred. "This isn't the view of Democrats that we want to project in the tough races, one of victims and race-baiting," the strategist said.
The Hill also reports that "She [McKinney] and House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi (Calif.) no longer speak." Now if only we could get some of their colleagues to shut up!

And on a side note, I haven't and don't plan on seeing Basic Instinct 2 because while Sharon Stone was hot about 10 or 12 years ago...now she's just getting old, and that's borderline nasty. On top of that I have heard that the critics tore this movie apart. However forget that tid-bit and the fact that on Rotten Tomatoes it got a 6% (where as Ice Age 2 got a high 62%, and it really was good)...It's Bush's and the Neocon Conservative's fault.
"Anything that is erotic has been banned in the United States," said the Dutch native. "Look at the people at the top (of the government). We are living under a government that is constantly hammering out Christian values. And Christianity and sex have never been good friends."

Face it...Your movie SUCKED. Here are some reviews:
"For many people, the only reason to see Basic Instinct 2 is to find out if Stone uncrosses her legs again. She doesn’t."

"Praising her [Stone] for flaunting herself is like applauding George Foreman for climbing into another ring or TV commercial whenever someone holds out a paycheck."

"An utterly hilarious piece of camp trash that elicited more laughs from me than 'She's the Man,' 'Larry the Cable Guy' and 'Date Movie' combined."
